Our Weather Activated Relief for Mesquite program is a temporary shelter for individuals who are unsheltered during times of extreme weather conditions based on the National Weather Service Forecast. Through an amazing partnership, we are able to provide shelter for our guests in a hotel nearby until the weather is no longer at dangerous temperatures.
We need your help spreading the word and being an advocate, click here to download our flyer and tell others about our program.
When Do We Activate?
WARM is active when the National Weather Service expects overnight temperatures to be at freezing levels. Those include under 28 degrees or 32 degrees with a 20% chance of precipitation. Once active, our partners go out and find unsheltered neighbors in need of assistance.
What is Provided?
During their stay, we will place our guests into a hotel room and provide two WARM meals each day. We also provide clothing, blankets, socks, toiletry kits, hoodies, shelf-stable food, and other non-food items they may need.
What is Needed?
Unfortunately, with the Texas weather, we never know when we will need to activate, so we always want to make sure we have the funds available to activate quickly. In addition to financial donations, we need items such as warm clothing and toiletries for our clients. Click here if you’d like to provide a financial donation.
